TEXAS SPIRIT DOCUMENTARIES SERIES KICKS OFF MUSEUM WITH BARBECUE: A TEXAS LOVE STORY
Austin, TX -- This March, The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum kicks off the new Texas Spirit Documentaries series in the Museum's Texas Spirit Theater. The Texas Spirit Documentaries series will present new, older, and re-released documentaries that focus on the spirit of Texas -- films by or about Texans and Texas culture. Beginning Tuesday March 3, 2009, in conjunction with the statewide celebration of Texas Independence Day, the Texas Spirit Documentaries series begins with the Emmy-nominated and 2004 South by Southwest Film Festival sensation Barbecue: A Texas Love Story.

ABOUT Barbecue: A Texas Love Story
No other state has a culture as distinct as Texas, and there's no better way to understand the passions and oddities of Texans than through their absolute love for Texas barbecue.   Barbecue: A Texas Love Story is an entertaining and humorous journey through the common fabric that weaves Texans together and makes them a never-ending object of fascination around the world. Take a tour across the Lone Star State, from the “Church of the Holy BBQ” to a BBQ cave in the desert to the Great Texas Mosquito Festival. You’ll even meet a group of University of Texas students so passionate about barbecue they lead “barbecue missions."  Narrated by former Texas Governor Ann Richards, the film features notable Texans such as Dan Rather, Kinky Friedman, Liz Carpenter, Ray Benson, and Chris Layton. Emmy-nominated and winner of "Best of South By Southwest Film Festival" at SXSW '04, Barbecue: A Texas Love Story has been called "charming," an “effervescent documentary,” and worthy of “four stars.”
