About Barton Springs Pool Austin, Texas

Within Zilker Park's 358 acres, lies one of the crown jewels of Austin, Barton Springs Pool. Three acres in size, the pool is fed from under ground springs and is on average 68 degrees year round.  It is also fed by Austin's Barton Creek Greenbelt and eventually flows into Lady Bird Lake.  Over the years, Barton Springs Pool has drawn people from all walks of life, from legislators who have concocted state laws there to free-spirited topless sunbathers who turned heads in the seventies. Today, Barton Springs still attracts a diverse crowd of people and is known as the number one swimming spot in Austin, TX.

 

Barton Springs Pool Parking Info & Prices

Barton Springs Pool has two main parking areas.  The area off Robert E Lee is free, but frequently full during summer months.  The area inside Zilker Park costs $3 to park from March - September.  Barton Springs Pool adults tickets are $3.00, juniors are $2.00 and children/senriors are $1.00

 

Bike Tours to Barton Springs Pool
Austin Cycle School offers tours of downtown Austin that include trips to Barton Springs Pool.  They ride on trails and sidewalks with a fleet of Torker T-300 bicycles complete with urban cycling gear that have plenty of cargo space for your towels, suncreen and other belongings.  Their mission is to inform their guests about their surroundings while showing you how easy and fun it can be to experience Austin on a bicycle. From I35: Exit onto Riverside Drive and head West. Take a left on Barton Springs Road and follow it past Lamar and the Barton Springs area restaurants and you'll see Robert E Lee on your left.  You can turn left there for parking or take your next left into Zilker Park.

From Mopac: Take the FM 2244 (Bee Caves Road exit) and head North on the access road.  It will curve around Zilker Park and turn into Barton Springs Road.  The Barton Springs Pool entrance to Zilker Park will be on your right.  Robert E Lee will be ahead at the light just as you pass over the bridge of Lady Bird Lake.
