and it doesn't look like they're going to reopen:(
The owner. Joe, owns Jo's Bar
and Grill on West Street between 5th and 6th and put the old Louie's
tapas on the menu. There's Louie's style tapas and Joe's style
tapas. So you can still get your Steamed Mussels in
Dijonnaise and Fried Calamari
fix if you need it. Here's a link to
Joe's Bar and Grill if you'd like to drop by and check it out.
About Louie's 106 Austin Restaurant

been a popular Austin Restaurant since its opening in 1986, placing
first in the Austin Chronicle People Poll. The restaurant features
four private rooms that cater to groups from 10 - 60 and spread across 2
levels with an open kitchen on the main floor. Louie's 106 offers over 300 wine labels and has won
the Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator
10 years in a row!
"The
appetizers at Louie's 106 represent an engaging mix of sophistication
and flat-out great taste. Let's begin with the Escargots which are
sautéed in garlic and white wine and served with herb walnut butter. The
first bite says it all as the tender snail; garlic and butter wash over
your palate. Wow! Best of all is the final act of dipping the fresh
sourdough bread into the little cups that contained the escargots and
soaking up the last of the wonderful flavors. I am equally smitten with
the Prince Edward Island Mussels. They are sinfully plump and fresh and
wonderfully tasty. Get the dijonnaise sauce which stirs things up a bit
and you will thank me."
