About Matt's El Rancho Austin
An Austin Favorite Since 1952, Matt’s
El Rancho is proud of their reputation
for serving the finest Mexican Food &
Margaritas in the world. Offering daily
lunch specials & a menu that includes
steak and seafood, Matt’s is "Always
Good"!Matt's
El Rancho #1 opened in 1952 at 302 E.
1st. The original menu consisted only of
blue plate specials such as chicken fried
steak. But the occasional enchilada plate
daily special drew demands for more
Tex-Mex. |

After
34 years, El Rancho #1 and #2 had
become so popular that they simply
didn't have space for all those
hungry customers. That's when Matt
and Janie Martinez found big a
tree-shaded lot on South Lamar, and
decided to make it the spot for a new
Matt's El Rancho. The beautiful new
building that was built in 1986
features three dining rooms, a patio,
a large bar area, and even a
tortilleria. Even though the first
two El Ranchos were closed when the
new restaurant opened, the
family
still held on to their decades-long
commitment to fresh and delicious
food. As
was the case when Matt Martinez
opened his first restaurant in 1952,
the El Rancho kitchen still uses only
the highest quality ingredients.
Every dish is made from scratch. Even
the salsas, tortillas, and pralines
are made fresh every single day.
Below you'll find highlights of
Matt's El Rancho's delicious menu.
